trim .ts file

Postby chilli » Fri Feb 22, 2008 6:41 pm

Can anyone recommend a program that removes un-wanted portions of .ts files (h.264 format)? :?

I normally use VideoRedo for my MP2 files, but this feature is not yet available in their current version for h.264.

I want to remove the beginning and end of a .ts file and then save it.
Thanks in advance for a prompt response.

TS Cutter

Postby satpilot » Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:21 pm

I tried both cutters, but can't get them to work.

TS cutter has a problem with the type of input frames (tried all) and gives error msg without loading file.

TS editor seems to load file, but it won't play/edit.

Fix

Postby satpilot » Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:57 pm

Ok, found solution.
I have to first use MPEG2Repair to "fix" the dd ts file.
Then both cutters can load the file correctly.

TS_Packet_Editor works great, except it creates annoying edl files as an in-between-step (easily deleted).
H264_TS_Cutter has stability issues (it will randomly stop loading).

For SD TS recordings use MPG2CUT2, works the best.
Unfortunately it will not load/cut H264 TS.
Developer's homepage is MIA, so probably no updates coming.

Ok, one final observation that may be helpful to some.

H264_TS_Cutter will sometimes start minimized - it will be on the task bar, just doubel-click it and you are back in business (I thought it was not displaying or corrupt or something - my bad)

The start point cannot be 0, or the cutter will give an error msg on saving the cut file. You have to move-up at least one frame to make it work error free. (a bit odd if you're used to MPG2CUT2)

After playing with both programs I think I like H264 TS Cutter a bit better than the TS Editor.
