Tried my Stab HH 120 with the new BDA v2.0 and Scanman's 1.08 and i cannot move the dish.

Working fine with ProgDVB + Dixie plugin, but ProgDVB is too unstable

I also use a STAB HH120.
Up to 1.3c it works fine so far, but since 1.4 there is a curious behavior that motor doesnt move every time - sometimes yes, sometimes not.
I'm checking and trying the whole weekend to get any conclusion: No real result yet.

If you are using my Interface, the following things are neccessary to be set well:
- Diseqc should set to NONE, add all needed positions under the first entry
- Stored positions in rotor must set correct in the Positioner-Menü
- Under Options/Preferences/Performance the entires 'Alwys retune' and 'Always force to resend disedc commands' must be checked.

Please try and let me know your results.

Example for my mostly used satellites on 23.5°, 19.2° and 13.0°:
Rotor STAB HH 120
TwinHan 1041 (AD-SP 400)
DD V1.4i p1 with BDA_ALL 1.0.8 (and test with 1.1.0)
DiSEqC-communication directly with TwinHan IOCTRL in BDA_ALL.

DD-settings marked:
- 'Always retune'
- 'Always force sending diseqc commands'
- Repat diseqc: min. 1 (doesnt matter if greater)
If those are not checked, nothing will work.
Set 'Delay after diseqc switching' has no 'feelable' effect.


Normally on start, the dish is positioned to 19.2°.

Soon after selecting an other channel on a different satellite, a progressbar appears for aprox. 4 seconds. (i deselect the confirmation)

As long as the progressbar is increasing, the video still remains running - so i assume no command is send during this (little) time to the interface / tuner.

Picture first freezes when the progressbar disappears - assuming furthermore 'now' a diseqc-command is send and motor is moving so there is no more data to decode in DD.

The curious things:

A)
When i fist steer from 19.2° to 23.5° it WON'T ( ! ) work as aspected.
Closing DD and restart (with tuned to last channel on the last satellite !) will bring no picture.
Using an other DD-intallation tuned to 19.2° show a picture >>> seems that the motor hasn't moved.

Keeping DD still running and sending a manual 'GOTO' for 23.5° shows upcoming signal & quality in the Positioner-window -

BUT NOT IN DD's Main-Window !
Re-select the tuned channel (or an other one on this position) shows picture immedeatly ! So motor has moved...

B - 1)
Staying on 23.5° and keep DD running.
When selecting a programm on 19.2° again, normally in nearly 100% of all tries the motor moves and picture will come up without additional commands or reselecting the / a channel !!!

B - 2)
Steering directly from 23.5° to 13.0'. The progressbar seems to need a little more time.
Picture won't come up - but a simple relesect on the prgramm shows picture immedeatly.

C)
Steering back from 13.0° to 19.2° or 23.5° has same effect as described under A)


It seems that steering from east to west will work (motor is moving) but from west to east always needs a little'HELP' by sending an extra command.

I don't beleave to problem in my interface, TwinHan's IOCTRL and / or the motor.
Commands and routines are always the same.
An earlier builded plugin for ProgDVB and a simple DVB-application by myself is working without any probs !


For further discussion and / or getting any conclusion to this i added a zip wth 2 pairs of LOF-files.
1_xxx.LOG is when starting DD on 19.2° and steering to 23.5°
2_xxx.LOG vice versa.

The only 'abnormal' thing i noticed is that DD tunes more than needed.... (BDA_ALL.LOG)

Because i'm wondering about several non-manual-started tune-request's and why the same TP sometimes will lock and sometimes not, i made some changes in my BDA-interface to avoid this.
Behavior seems to be the same at last...

As follows i give you a summary of several shortened BDA_ALL.LOG's with detailed description what i have done.
My conclusion:
'There must be something wrong in the state of Denmark' (an old middle-age saying here in Europe/Germany...)
But what ?

Maybe DD didn't recognize/remind internally that a satellite has changed ?
Or this or that ? I dont't know the internal cycles of DD....

Neither changing to any program on 19.2°, resetting DirectShow or the Device has an effect:
Allway signal & Quality - no picture / sound.
The only thing you see in OSD is the selcted channel/sat - no program-information is displayed.

... works without any prob.

Intermediate conclusion:

let's compare computer/software with a human 'device'.
A computer with more than one CPU/Kernel can handle min. 2 threads ore more (e. g. commands at same time) in real at the same time. Nice to have... If.
Because of much more efficiency a human brain can handle many more procedure's than a computer - allthough there is only one brain...

A human being can 'handle' mechanical things only one after the other ! We only have one pair of hands and feet.
Several people are able to do this simultaneous (like well progammed applications) - the rest of the world normally discharge their work in a manageable chain. Same as normal software...

Why talking abaout this ?
You can devide an application in as many threads (parallel carry out) as you wish to avoid blocking them from each other and have more stabilitly if any procdure crashes or hang.
Logically the speed will depend on the 'brain', memory, disk-acceptance of the machine and many more.

When working with DVB-Hardware mostly only one receiver/tuner is installed and this is similiar to 'normal people':
You can talk to only one person / can do only one work at the moment on the dependent 'interface' (mouth, legs, arms, ...).

For understanding:
'Please tune to this frequency, please give SignalInfo, please switch with this DiSEqC-command, please do this and please do that ... and Hands up: Give me all your money - immedeatly !'
I think this poor DVB-Tuner (with it's hopefully well programmed driver - oooooh my good...) is a little bit overstrained sometimes when it's been 'shoot' by several threads nearly at the same time ?!

My recommendation:
Actually the slowest computer will react faster to your demand as you can click with your mouse or on keboard !
So let's think about smooth talking to the DVB-Hardware and process the results step by step
- Tune up, baby !
- Come on, lets move !
- Show me all your values !
- Gimme all your Data... as fast as you can.
- ... and several others DVB-commands can look like in human language

Always spend neccessary time for response - your wife / husband won't return with any aspected answer in micro-/milliseconds....

Did she / he ??!!
Yes ? - Don't tell it to other people in your neighborhood !!!
