codec or renderer problem?

I have DVB Dream set up on my home theater computer for watching satellite television. For all SD signals, I get terrible stuttering with lots of dropped frames. On HD broadcasts it works smooth, but every so often even it begins to drop frames. This frame dropping occurs until the DVB program is stopped and restarted. I have tried all different codecs for SD content. The one that seems to have the best success is the Nvidia Purevideo codec (video and audio). I have tried the Intervideo codecs, and also have the Cyberlink PDVD8 codecs, which didn't do as well. I even tried the ffdshow and ATI codecs without success. The CoreAVC and the Cyberlink PDVD8 codecs worked on the H.264 content.

I know the computer will handle HD playback, because it does so for all my HD as well as SD movies. The CPU typically operates at about 10% or lower. The GPU varies depending on content, but never goes much past 50% on high motion content and is pretty consistent without any spiking. I also use the same machine for receiving analog broadcasts. It works well for this and all recorded content plays smooth and clear.

There must be something I can do to find out what is causing the problem. I suspect it has to do with the ts demuxing. Is there something I can do with that?

I did some more experimenting. I found that playing movies in Media Player or VLC by themselves resulted in proper fps frame rates. When I viewed a HD content satelight channel in DVB Dream, it also showed the proper fps. If I viewed a SD content channel in DVB Dream, it showed a high fps frame rate. I have seen as high as 135 fps. Of course, it can't properly display this rate and it drops frames and looks jumpy. What would be causing this high attempted fps when the content should only be 60 fps?
