I have problems with codecs in 1.4i too. To get around this I use the codecs that worked with 1.3c . When 1.4i codecs are in red, I just close it with X and it will work even though it says it cant create a graph. Must close with the x though!..

To install new drivers go to my computer and right click properites .Under device manager open and find dtv audio and video device. Update the driver to where you have the new one located. Do this for both audio and video.

I get the same thing when I change channels with the remote. Ive found that if you push epg on the remote then cancel it , the cursor will disappear.

Sometimes having too many codecs can cause a problem. All want to be used at the same time . Try deleting all but, Cyberlink and Nvidia. Also dont use vmr9 use 7 instead ! 9 has always had problems like studdering and tearing in video imaging!
